United Way Hosting Women's Initiative

JournalNews :: 9.19.05 — Women can plan for a girls’ night out this week when the Butler County United Way hosts its first initiative.

The Women’s Initiative: An Evening of Pampering will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Four Bridges Country Club, 6801 Butler-Warren County Line Road.

The cost is $15 per person, or free of charge for those who participated in the Day of Caring.

“This will be a base for women to strengthen the community here,” said Maureen Noe, president and chief executive officer of the Butler County United Way. “When you join the United Way’s Woman’s Initiative, you become part of the dynamic community leaders who give their time, talent and treasures.”

The event is sponsored by United Healthcare and J. Forman & Associates.

The program will include a silent auction, chair massage and a style show featuring shops from the Streets of West Chester.

This is an inaugural event, Noe said, in which other programs could follow.

The Women’s Initiative is also part of the United Way of America that encourages women to educate and empower each other through philanthropy. Its local mission is to strengthen the community and change lives in Butler County through collaboration among women leaders, according to organizers.

“It’s an excellent networking opportunity for women,” said Jody Forman of J. Forman & Associates, who is co-chairwoman of the event. “It’s a way to make a difference in the lives of young children.”

The other co-chairwoman is Dorothy Coleman, chief executive officer of United Healthcare.

This year’s focus has been promoting early education to children through a program called Born Learning. Information about Born Learning, provided by Ohio Casualty Group, will be available for parents at various doctors’ offices throughout the county.

In addition to emphasizing the importance early childhood learning, Forman and Noe said the Evening of Pampering will be a good time for professional women who are also wives and mothers to feel special.

“I just think it will be a nice opportunity for the gals to get together,” Forman said.

The Women’s Initiative concludes a day of United Way activities. The fall Day of Caring, which involves volunteer work, will take place in the morning and afternoon throughout the county.
