Leadership Giving

Throughout history great causes have drawn from the ideals and strengths of outstanding leaders. Our community's finest leaders have shared a vision of a caring, self-sufficient community and have demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment through their generosity and volunteer involvement.

For decades, community leaders have worked with Butler County United Way to create positive and lasting changes in our community. From an effective system of health and human care services to local community initiatives, these leaders have remained committed to a long-standing tradition of philanthropy that runs deep in our community.

United Way Tocqueville Society

The society derives its name from Alexis de Tocqueville, a French aristocrat of the 19th century who was inspired by the American spirit of philanthropy. His observations formed the basis of "Democracy in America," a detailed study of American society and politics, published in two volumes in 1835 and 1840.

Tocqueville wrote extensively on the power of voluntary giving for the common good. Members of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society are those who have made an annual contribution of $10,000 or more.
