Campaign Cabinet Profiles

Chris Worrell
Graydon Head & Ritchie, LLP

A. Christian Worrell III will be heading the 2008 fund raising campaign scheduled to kick off September 4.  The event to be held at the Savannah Center in West Chester will be lead by the partner in charge of the Butler/Warren office of the law firm Graydon Head & Ritchie, LLP.

Meeting the demands for a community in need sets the tone and direction for Worrell and this year’s campaign.  He states,” The demand for services of the Butler County United Way are at an all time high.  We must meet those needs with a groundbreaking campaign that reflect Butler County ’s sense of community and spirit of giving.”

Since joining Graydon Head in 1985, Worrell has stayed loyal to the commitment of community service paved by his predecessors.   Currently he serves on the Board of Directors for the West Chester Chamber Alliance, The Hillside Trust and Partners in Prime of Hamilton.  Previous service as a member of the BCUW campaign cabinet helped prepare Worrell for his current leadership position.

Chris lives in Liberty Township with his wife, Stephanie, who is an active member of the BCUW’s Women’s Initiative and their son, Ben, a student at Lakota West HS.  Their daughter, Devon, lives in Seattle .

Claude E. Davis
First Financial

Claude Davis joined Hamilton, Ohio-based First Financial Bancorp on October 1, 2004, as president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors.  He is also chairman of the board of Bancorp’s lead Bank, First Financial Bank.

Prior to joining First, he was president of Irwin Union Bank and Trust in Columbus , Indiana .

An Indiana native, Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Butler University in Indianapolis .

Davis serves on the board of trustees of Butler University and is a member of the Young President’s Organization.

Claude became involved with Butler County United Way because he believes involvement in the surrounding community is essential.  “I believe it is important to be involved in the communities in which we live and work and hope that my business skills and experience will be an asset to United Way ”.

Davis and his wife Sara reside in Hamilton , and are the parents of a son and a daughter.

Nancy Nix
Butler County Treasurer’s Office

Nancy Nix, CPA, currently serves as our Butler County Treasurer.  Nancy is a former Middletown City Councilwoman and previously worked in Private Banking at U.S. Bank.  She has spent many years working in public accounting. 

Nancy moved to Ohio from Missouri sixteen years ago and found community service to be the perfect way to meet people while making a positive contribution to Butler County .  Over the years, she has been involved in a multitude of boards, commissions, and social service agencies, and continues today working with the United Way , Rotary, Civil Service Commission, Chambers of Commerce, and Republican organizations.

Nancy and her husband Dan live in Middletown with their 3 children.  

When not mother-ing or treasure-ing, Nancy can usually be found where people are, living united!

Bob Sommers
Butler Tech

Bob Sommers, CEO of Butler Technology and Career Development School , has volunteered his time, talents and efforts for the past seven years.  During those years he has served twice as Campaign Chairperson, cabinet member, on the Board of Directors and as a leadership giver.     

Other community endeavors include Butler County Regional Transit Authority Board, West Chester Chamber Alliance Board and the Butler County Republican Party Executive Committee.      

Professionally Bob keeps on top of his career by affiliating with the Ohio and National Association of Career-Technical Education, Ohio Association of Joint Vocational Schools, National Association of State Directors of Career-Technical Education and Buckeye Association of School Administrators.  He was chosen teacher of the year in 1985, Person of the Year in 1999 by OAJVS and was given the Ohio State University Academic Achievement Award in 1998.      

When asked why he volunteers with the United Way when there are other community agencies Bob states, “I value the way United Way makes sure that my contribution for improving the community truly makes a difference.”  He continues, “Helping the community is the right thing to do and it makes your outlook on life significantly better.  United Way allows me to help others in an effective way.”

Danny Crank
Butler County Recorder

Danny N. Crank, Butler County Recorder, has served on Hamilton City Council for nearly 12 years.  He presently is President of the Ohio Recorders’ Association.   Danny’s work with the United Way includes serving on the Allocations Committee, “It is very demanding of your time but it gives you a very in-depth insight into how each organization is run.”  Of the 10 years he has worked as a volunteer with United Way Danny says, “When you see the results that individuals receive from the organizations that are funded by the United Way , it touches your heart and gives you a good feeling to know you are doing something that helps others that are less fortunate than yourself.” 

Other community commitments included serving as President of the Greater Hamilton Safety Council for 2 years, Lindenwald Kiwanis for 2 years, and the Hamilton-Fairfield Board of Realtors for 2 years. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Campbell Gard and the YMCA Facilities Committee.

A lifelong resident of Butler County and currently residing in Hamilton, Danny and his wife Margie have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.

Dan Schroer
Butler Tech    

Vice President of Secondary Workforce at Butler Tech, Dan will be leading the Educational Division of the Campaign Cabinet. 

Dan brings great enthusiasm to increase the participation of Butler County ’s educational institutions for the United Way .  “The United Way provides an opportunity for a team of volunteers to make a positive difference for the community” Schroer says.  He comes with previous volunteer positions with MDA, SEBC Leadership, Leadership Hamilton, Butler County Leadership Event Committee and the American Cancer Society.

Vice President of Adult Workforce Education at Butler Tech, Amy returns to the campaign cabinet after serving as its chair for the 2002 Campaign.  Amy has volunteered in various capacities for the United Way since 1999, including serving on the board of directors. She says,”The United Way is a well run organization that does good work for the common good.  It’s a great way to meet other professionals who care about their community and wish to make a difference.” 

Along with her work at United Way Amy spends time with the West Chester Chamber Alliance Luncheon and Annual Dinner Committee and Enterprise Zone Committee for West Chester Township .

Amy lives in West Chester with her husband Carl and daughter.

Joseph A. Hinson, IOM
West Chester Chamber Alliance

Joe has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of the award-winning West Chester Chamber Alliance for nearly ten years.  Under his leadership, the Chamber continues to see sustained growth in membership an operating income, becoming the 4th largest Chamber of Commerce out of 25 in our three state region.  This has been due, in part, to maximizing the opportunities afforded by a great location, combined with a clear vision and strategic plan to create cutting edge programs and services for our members.  In turn, the WCCA has become known as the “Chamber of Choice” along the I-75 Growth Corridor.  Promoting the team aspect and a “family first” work environment, Joe has built a solid organization of “can do” business professionals.    

The WCCA is proud to be a business partner in the West Chester and Liberty Communities, recognized by Business CNN/Money Magazine as the 45th best place to live in the U.S.   Other recognition that has occurred under Joe’s leadership at the Chamber includes:

  • Two-time award recipient for the Chamber’s web portal design
  • Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce Award
  • Two-time award finalist for the Business Courier’s Best Places to Work

  • Ohio Society of Professional Journalism Award for Connection Magazine

A graduate of the college of business from Northern Kentucky University , Joe is a former corporate executive and small business entrepreneur.  His is a past recipient of the Business Courier’s 40 Under Forty Award for emerging leaders, a Kentucky Colonel, honored 3 times by the Ohio senate and various other distinguished leadership awards.  Joe is also a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce prestigious Chamber Institute.

Currently Tina Osso is the Executive Director of Shared Harvest Foodbank, located on Dixie Highway in Fairfield

Tina volunteered her time as a teenager with the Community Chest, this same organization before its affiliation with the United Way of America and its name change to Butler County United Way .  More recently she is a member of the Action Council for the Northern Division office of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Secretary of Butler County United Way’s Agency Executive Council.

Tina’s passion to help eliminate hunger is witnessed by her Chairing both Butler and Warren County ’s Emergency Food and Shelter Boards.  “I believe in the concept of the United Way , pooling resources to benefit the greater good.” Said Osso when asked why she volunteers for the United Way .

Jim Kleingers
Kleingers & Associates, Inc.

Jim Kleingers, President of Kleingers & Associates, Inc. welcomes the opportunity to work with Chris Worrell to make the 2008-09 United Way Campaign the best ever. Kleinger’s firm runs an annual internal campaign and has a staff member serve as an ECC to insure each employee understands the needs with in our community and has the opportunity to participate.

Jim’s personal involvement throughout the region and within communities is evident by the committees he serves. He works with Boy Scouts Troup 20 and Cub Pack 85, Holy Family Middletown, Bishop Fenwick, Middletown Miami, and the city of Middletown .

Professionally Jim keeps active with membership in American Consulting Engineering Companies, Ohio , Society of Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio and local Chambers of Commerce. Kleingers & Associates has received the honor of being named Top 50 Civil Engineering Companies to work for the US in ‘05 and ’06.

Jim states, “I find working with the United Way gives me an opportunity to meet interesting people and d learn more about my community all while helping to support worthwhile programs benefitting those in need.  It feels good too!”

Jim lives in Middletown with his wife, Mary Jean, and has 5 children.
